That sounds quite promising, although reverting to another package if we need tapered ranges would be a bit of a pain. Have you tested Advance Concrete and have you any opinion on that? I have briefly looked at Advance Concrete and it looks very comprehensive. I used the beta version for revit i hoped it have more options but anyway the new rft tool is good and helped me to continue what my company began, We are now totally able to produce rc shop drawings and many reinforcement conections and huge difficult roofs with varius slopes and levels.

Revit is getting very close but there are still some annoyances over macro generated bar using non standard shapes eg Stirrup — 31 and restrictions around putting the bars into a rebar set to document correctly. Hopefully Autodesk will update and improve these macros in the next release.

Hi Lawrence. Not sure if this is a silly question but how did you get rid of the units from the tag? Also how did you manage to show the layer?

Hi Anthony, i created a couple of shared parameters to control the layers, in this way you can also schedule them. The units are removed by selecting the value and then clicking the icon. Sorry for the delay, just got back from holiday. I used Quantity and created a shared parameter for number of members and then used a calc. I also turned off itemise every instance and sorted by the schedule mark, this seems to work ok.

You cannot resize the data rows, only the title! A little strange I guess. I have been splitting the schedule which gives you a little more control on how the schedule is presented. We took a look at the Sofisik tool in and at the time this looked like a good way of over coming the range dimensions and showing single bars and also for producing varying ranges.

I would imagine that Autodesk will address some of these limitations fairly soon as they are now in possession of the Graitec development team for Advance Concrete.

With AutoRebar you can now quickly produce high-quality drawings by automating the repetitive tasks previously involved in rebar detailing with plain AutoCAD. You can now focus on the conceptual part of the design rather than having to deal with time-consuming CAD editing work.

Rebar objects can be created and stretched like polylines and the bar size is quickly edited with a double click. Since all AutoRebar entities are graphically connected, a modification to one or more Rebars causes all the linked objects to update automatically.

The user can add a new Mark by selecting the Rebar to be linked, and double click it to edit data such as the bar grouping criteria, the bar spacing and the size of the range; alternatively, normal AutoCAD dimensions can be linked to the Mark and used to specify the range of a bundle of bars in the concrete structure; AutoRebar calculates the total number of bars in that range.

The great thing is, whenever you modify the concrete shape and stretch the dimension, the total number of bars updates on the fly. This can be useful to deliver your drawing to other users who want to open and edit your drawing without having to install AutoRebar on their computers. Uninstalling AutoRebar from the control panel completely removes the app from both AutoCad and Windows. This download page is for the full version, not a trial. The benefit to use app like this instead only pure AutoCAD objects can be feld immediately after first minutes of work.

I started to work with it before 2 months and soon will make my first middle size building. The app is helping a lot. You need to spent some time in order to learn what you can do with it, but once you do that, you will find that it really helps save a lot of time with the drawings. It may cause some Autocad instability but the owner of the app was quick to reply and give a solution.

For those who do not have a proper lisp may be useful. The ods are that it does not add stability to AutoCad, has to be exploded, does not allow different rebar list in the same drawing. My solution was to make the rebar drawing with a formwork external reference, then explode and use the exploded file for plot.

It does happen that the export of Revit outcome becomes quiet difficult. But thanks for the info which made it easy. Is there a way to bring information into Revit from Excel, that is not associated with elements in Revit? I am trying to bring in a Responsibility Matrix into Revit, I know there are some custom nodes created by other people, but I am trying to do it exclusively in a Dynamo Script without bringing in custom nodes.

Am I understanding correctly? I think I have a similar situation to David. I have to bring in a lot of parking and site details in the project cover page, the only thing I can do at this point is to convert Excel into JPEG and then bring it in Revit. I am thinking of using Dynamo to bring in Non-Bim data into revit. Is it possible with this method? Is their a way to export a revit schedule into excel, make some changes in excel and then re-import back into revit.

I know this would be a dynamo script but I am not sure where to begin. What you can do is export parameters from the elements in the schedule to Excel using Dynamo and edit them. We are trying out an add-in to import our excel electrical panel schedules into Revit. So far, we are finding glitches with the add-in that we are testing. Can Dynamo or macros do this? Our goal is to keep creating our panel schedules in excel since all of our formulas are built into our excel spreadsheet and than either import or link the excel spreadsheet to Revit.

What add-in were you having difficulty with? I know of a few that do this very task.
