By bebenavole , November 4, in Logic Pro. It works fine. Did you check how it works in the manual, or are you just randomly bashing the assigned key shortcut? My new Logic Pro Book is out! In my screen grab above I was showing you in the key command window that the command is there, and it’s named exactly as you expected, so it’s easy to search for and find it, and then assign it to a key command if you want to use it. Assign your own key to it you can’t have mine!

The learn buttons are right there in the key command window. Select the command, hit learn, press the key you want to assign to it. Most key combinations are already assigned to something else so you may have to either replace an existing assignment if you don’t want to use something crazy like Control-Command-Option-Shift-Z. Experiment a bit more, try to keep a beat for four to six consecutive taps then play a beat that is a little faster but not double speed either for the next four taps.

Does that work? Next, start playing with the tempo interpretation window settings. You’re going to have to experiment and be patient, it’s not necessarily super intuitive or obvious. The tempo stays prettymuch in the same ballpark even if you double the taps. You can post now and register later.

David Nahmani Posted November 7, It doesn’t really adjust to the beats of the key command. There’s also one in Logic Remote as well iirc, which might also be a bit easier to use than the older Logic tempo interpreter Posted November 8, Logic Pro X Join the conversation You can post now and register later. If you have worked in Cubase, Ableton Live, FL Studio, or ProTools, you would find that it is very easy to assign a tap tempo when you are aiming to sync up your new production to an existing song or even a rhythm you have in your head. Unfortunately, however the Tap Tempo function in Logic Pro X is not as visible as one would have imagined.

Sadly, I do have to say that this is one shortcoming which I hope will be addressed in future developments of the program. So rather than having the tempo dictated to you by your DAW, you can create your own pulse by simply striking a key on your computer keyboard, assigned drum pad or your MIDI keyboard tapping out the pulse in you need to flow.

As I mentioned above this can be done quite easily in other music production applications and I will show you how to get to it in Logic Pro X. So if for example you are playing with a band and you want to work out the tempo at which the band is jamming, you can use Tap Tempo to calculate this. For me however, this is the main way in which I use Tap Tempo. Hopefully this makes sense to you.
