Simply open the App Store, find Pixelmator Pro, and click the download button. You can install Pixelmator Pro on up to 6 Mac devices with a single license as long as you use the same Apple ID on each device. After doing that, check the Updates tab in the App Store and try downloading the update again. You may have accidentally hidden the purchase. Visit the following Apple Support page to find out how to unhide purchases. In that case, you can email us with proof of purchase and we may be able to share a promo code with you.

If you know the name of the feature that you need, you can check out the Pixelmator Pro technical specifications page to make sure that feature is available. Other than that, the best way to make sure is to try the app for yourself — we have a day free trial that you can use without any restrictions. Simply put, Pixelmator Pro is version 2 of Pixelmator, a paid upgrade from the original. It has a wide range of new features, a redesigned, fully customizable workspace, native support for M1 Macs, and a lot more.

Pixelmator Pro features full support for RAW images from over cameras. If your camera is relatively new and is not listed on that page, support will most likely be added in a future update to macOS and Pixelmator Pro will be able to take advantage of it automatically.

Pixelmator Pro is currently available on Mac only. If you would like to work with Pixelmator Pro on iPad, you might like to try Sidecar. If you still have questions, feel free to ask them on the Pixelmator Community forum. If you can only select layers by clicking them in the Layers sidebar, check to make sure Auto Select is turned on. To do that, choose the Arrange tool V , then Control-click anywhere in the image and make sure the first option in that shortcut menu — Auto Select — has a checkmark next to it. Is Pixelmator Photo supported on my iPad? Pixelmator Photo is designed exclusively for editing photos. It includes full support for RAW photos, an extensive collection of nondestructive, desktop-grade color adjustments, a magical Repair tool, batch photo editing, and more. Pixelmator for iOS is a layer-based editor that you can use to create designs, paint, illustrate, edit photos, and more. If you need both, feel free to buy both apps.

Pixelmator Photo supports RAW photos from over cameras. To open an image from Photos, first tap Create Document in the location you want or tap at the top of the screen, then tap Photos at the bottom of the screen.

Use the Photos browser to find the photo you’d like to edit. First, try restarting your device. If there’s an issue with the document browser, the restart will fix it. If you’re still unable to create or open images, try changing the default save location of your Pixelmator files. Some third-party storage providers do not support the iOS-native package type directories that Pixelmator uses for PXM files, so changing the document save location to local storage or iCloud can help.

Originally designed to accompany Pixelmator Classic for Mac, Pixelmator for iOS cannot open Pixelmator Pro files due to a number of different new features added. What’s the difference between Pixelmator Classic and Pixelmator Pro? Should I upgrade? Simply open the App Store, find Pixelmator, and click the download button.
